Welcome to our April newsletter

Probably the biggest news recently in response to significant speculation in the media and industry was a joint announcement on super reforms made on 5 April by Treasurer Wayne Swan and Minister Bill Shorten. The Government has positioned these reforms as making the superannuation system fairer and more sustainable. That is being debated.

Australians generally have an unhealthy skepticism about super and the government continually tweaking it does nothing to help. In the end the negative changes will affect a small amount of investors, and many actually will benefit from a higher contribution cap.

Unfortunately the population as a whole may not read the fine detail and just continue to have a bad taste about the government and super uncertainty.

We cover the changes in our article, Proposed Super Reforms. Obviously we encourage you to seek advice to make sure you are using every opportunity.

We also cover the financial impact of a heart attack and help you understand what a testamentary trust is and its uses in estate planning. Are you prepared for all circumstances?

Wishing you a great month ahead.
