Welcome to the November edition of the Savvy Investor

Well it has been a busy November so far with the Melbourne Cup, Reserve Bank meeting and the US election. How do the outcomes affect you? Well the Melbourne Cup is just a bit of fun, (unless you are an owner!) and the Reserve bank decision went by pretty much unnoticed.

As the dust begins to settle around the U.S. election, the markets will keep a close eye on how the returning president and the still-divided Congress will look to tackle the fast-approaching fiscal cliff situation, which threatens to push the country back into recession. If the US Government and its politicians can’t come to an agreement in January 2013 about the US Debt level, then taxes will increase and there will be Government cuts to spending. That might not be a bad thing? The media will have a field day discussing the impending apocalypse. It should make for an interesting holiday period.

But while the U.S. political drama comes one step closer to resolution, political issues still remain in the eurozone with policy-makers still unable, or perhaps reluctant, to make the big decisions on Europe's future.

We cover both issues in this month’s articles. We also cover how to avoid family legal battles and ensure you don’t breach the superannuation contributions cap.

Reminder to those wishing to consider Cashing in their Retirement Annuity Policies in South Africa or Reviewing their Risk Insurance Portfolios.  This is the last opportunity before the end of the year to contact Gordon Hatch for further discussion – gordon@taurusfinancial.com.au

Have a great month and we wish you great prosperity.
